TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa police officer is recovering from a stab wound to the face after an arrest turned violent on Wednesday.
According to police, the officer responded to a call about a homeless man who’d reportedly been seen exposing himself and urinating in public.
This was occurring at a liquor store near 41st and Garnett just after 7 p.m., according to police.
TPD said the officer found the man, identified as Scorpio Flynn, and attempted to arrest him. Police said when the officer approached Flynn, he quickly pulled a knife from his waistband and stabbed the officer in the face.
Police said the impact caused part of the blade to break off and it was left embedded in the officer’s cheek. For context, police said the knife had a ceramic blade, not a metal one.
TPD said despite his injury, the officer continued to pursue Flynn and tried twice to use a Taser on him.
Flynn was eventually taken into custody when other officers arrived.
Tulsa police said the injured officer had to have surgery, but is expected to recover.
Scorpio Flynn was arrested for:
- Attempted 1st Degree Murder
- Resisting Arrest
