TULSA, Okla. — Update: Tulsa Police have released the name of the suspect involved in Thursday night’s deadly double shooting in South Tulsa.

Tusa Police say they responded to a shooting call at the New Haven Apartments near 61st and Peoria around 8:45 Thursday night.

Officers say they found Ted Gilford Sr. and his girlfriend, both with gunshot wounds, in their apartment. Both were taken to the hospital.

Gilford Sr. died as a result of his injuries, TPS said. The girlfriend was hospitalized and last listed as stable.

Detectives say Ted Gilford Jr. ran from the scene after the shooting.

According to TPD, the Tulsa Police Helicopter helped spot Gilford Jr. in the area, and Officers took him into custody.

He’s been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The Tulsa Police Department said two people were shot, one fatal, at New Haven Apartments on Thursday night.

Authorities said they received a call around 7:41 p.m. from a woman reporting she had been shot in her apartment.

Tulsa Police responded to the New Haven Apartment complex near East 62nd Street and South Peoria Avenue and discovered the first gunshot victim, who had reported the incident.

Officers said they also discovered a second gunshot victim inside the apartment.

Police reported both victims, an adult male and female, were conscious and identified the person they said shot them as the adult male son of the male victim. They gave officers a name and a clothing description of the person.

They stated the suspect is homeless, but frequents the 61st and Peoria area.

Witnesses in the area reported the suspect had run on foot to the south.

The department called out their K9 unit, several patrol officers, and the TPD helicopter to search for the suspect. He was spotted hiding behind a fence in the 6300 block of South Peoria Avenue. He was then taken into custody. Police say a handgun was recovered near where he was hiding.

The male victim has since died at the hospital from his injuries sustained in the shooting. The female victim is receiving treatment. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The investigation into the shooting is currently ongoing. Police say the identity of the suspect will be released at a later time. They do not believe there are any other suspects involved.
