We are proud to partner with the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance on STEMtember presented by Oklahoma Central Credit Union and OSU Center for Health Sciences. STEMtember is a month of free hands-on, curiosity-driven activities that can be completed at home or at school. The activities are designed to help children see how science, technology, engineering, and math work in our everyday lives and encourages them to ask more questions to grow their love of STEM.
Each week of STEMtember will feature a new and exciting virtual learning opportunity. You can attend one or all four – it’s up to you!
Week 1 – Family Night at the Gathering Place
Stop by the Williams Lodge at the Gathering Place the entire month of STEMtember to pick up a free STEM in a Bag kit. The Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance is providing more than 5,000 take home activities that highlight areas where STEM can be found across the park. Engineer a slide or engage in architectural investigation of the Adventure Playground. These kits include age-appropriate explanations of each of the projects and all of the materials needed to complete it. Code Ninjas is a proud partner of this event.
Week 2 – Flight Night Back to School STEM Expo
The Flight Night Back to School STEM Expo is designed to help teachers arm their students with interactive and fun STEM activities that they can use in the classroom or at home. Teachers can register for a classroom set (30 total) of five different STEM activities. The included activities touch on the aerospace, agriculture, energy, healthcare and information technology fields. Register for a kit for your classroom by September 10th and they will be delivered to your school by October 15th. Don’t wait – registration is limited. Click here to apply.
Week 3 – Video Release
These STEMtember videos are a great way to infuse a quick 5-10 minute STEM lesson into your day. Each of these videos feature Tulsa-area professionals who utilize STEM every day. The videos feature glassblowers, arborists and other professions you might not realize work with STEM daily. The videos will be posted here the week of September 19th.
Week 4 – Teacher Night
The Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance will host a virtual Professional Development Night for teachers on Tuesday, September 28th. This year’s theme is “STEM Across Green Country” and speakers from across different organizations will share field trip opportunities and other available educational programs. Registration is limited to 100 teachers and all participants will receive a gift bag with informational materials and relevant classroom materials. Door and raffle prizes will be available. Click here to save your spot.
STEM education doesn’t stop at the end of the month. The Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance has resources available all the time on their website: tulsastem.org.
