102.3 KRMG is partnering with the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance to turn September into STEMtember as we launch a month of focusing on the fun behind science, technology, engineering and math.
STEMtember is a month-long campaign designed to help children see how science, technology, engineering, and math work in our everyday lives and encourages them to ask more questions.
Family Fun launches on August 1st at the Gathering Place with a free giveaway for families, teachers, clubs and individuals. Stop by the Lodge at the Gathering Place from September 1st – 30th and look for the STEMtember signs. You will be able to pick up one of four DIY kits that are tied to unique elements found inside the Gathering Place. The kits include: investigating sound with DIY harmonics, backyard diversity, designing tessellations (patterns), and a bridge building challenge.
The Teacher Appreciation Breakfast is a celebration of teachers and the new school year. A limited number of teachers will be able to participate in a free event at the Tulsa Discovery Lab on Saturday, September 24th. The event will be from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and will give teachers an opportunity to meet with Tulsa area educational partners, learn about growth mindset from Dr. Martha Parrott, and enter raffles for prizes. Space is limited – click here to register.
STEM education doesn’t stop at the end of the month. The Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance has resources available all the time on their website: tulsastem.org. Visit the site often to get inspiration on how to grow a love of science, technology, engineering and math in your child.
102.3 KRMG is proud to support the work of the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance and to help make these exciting opportunities available and accessible to all Green Country kids.
